Some artists chase trends. Nutritious chases frequency—the deep-in-your-chest resonance that defined New York, Chicago, and San Francisco house in the late '90s. It's a sound he absorbed early as a New York City kid, long before he touched a pair of turntables. An improvisational musician since childhood, he landed his first record deal at 16 and soon found himself performing at CBGBs, Tramps, and other rooms that shaped generations.
By 17, he was promoting nights at the Palladium; not long after, he held the first residency at the next incarnation of Save The Robots, playing all-night Saturday sets for East Village diehards. Those early years—raw, communal, alive with possibility—etched themselves into his internal metronome, forming the backbone of the soulful, selector-grade sound he carries today.
And in a year when electronic music is drifting back toward soul, groove, and emotional depth, Nutritious hasn't just kept pace—he's been leading.
The proof is everywhere: four EPs released this year—Maritime Hotel (Paper Recordings), Chromatic Palms (Sprechen), Amber (Liquid Culture), and the Magnetic Magazine–approved “Alma,” which earned a 5/5 for being a song that “brings house music back to center.” His latest chapter, The Soft Dark, arrived Nov 21st on Liquid Culture and is already buzzing among tastemakers.
A DJ's DJ and a producer's producer, Nutritious moves fluidly between vinyl and CDJs, delivering marathon sets that glide from hypnotic deep house to indie dance, techno, nu-disco, funk, and soul. Highlights this year include Pikes Ibiza, Eighteenth Street Lounge DC's main room, and a four-hour all-vinyl session at Alfie's HiFi Orlando. Next up: a special vinyl set on December 13th at T Bag Records, Miami's hottest underground dance music purveyor.
The industry has taken notice. Deer Jade, Arthur Baker, DJ Harvey, Richie Hawtin, Radio NOVA, Ibiza BPM, Kiss FM AU and more have championed his work. Few artists resonate as deeply with underground selectors and global heavyweights alike—but Nutritious's music hits everywhere.
The Soft Dark
On The Soft Dark, Nutritious delivers a tightly sculpted three-track ritual—a study in how melodic light can glide over nocturnal, deeper currents without losing momentum. Known for selector instincts and extended improvisational sets, he approaches the EP as both composer and live architect, crafting pieces built for big systems yet rich with tactile detail in intimate, high-fidelity rooms.
“Ether” opens the suite with breath and spaciousness—negative space, harmonics, and delayed resolutions that evoke revelation more than release. A subtle nod to acid-303 bass that never fully takes center stage, adding quiet tension to the journey.
“Cenote” channels the pull of water and ceremony: sub-bass currents, modal phrases, and echo trails inspired by cenote acoustics and vibrational medicine. Its low end flexes with intention, evoking hidden jungle chambers, traditional shamanic peyote rituals, and a suspended, crystalline calm.
“Humanity” closes with connection and warmth—a polyrhythmic meditation featuring warm low mids, and a steady, empathic groove moves the track from solemn to soaring without bombast. Ancient-modern contrasts (temple-to-skyline) guide a production that blends organic timbres with precision electronics. Nutritious calls it “my ode to peace on earth.”
“These songs live where lift meets weight,” Nutritious says. “Ether breathes, Cenote centers, and Humanity embraces the map we share. I built The Soft Dark for rooms where technology feels human again—music that stokes imagination and still drives a dance floor.”
If The Soft Dark had a cannabis profile, it would echo that same ritualistic balance: warm woods, earthy depth, and a bright, citrus edge—organic warmth meeting illuminated texture. It's no surprise his work pairs effortlessly with limonene-and pinene-forward strains and listening spaces where presence, mood, and body awareness become part of the experience.
Following the chart-topping success of Blurs (Paper) and 50M+ social views on tracks circulating globally, The Soft Dark reinforces Nutritious's place among contemporary selectors and vision-driven producers. File under deep, emotive house with techno DNA—for fans of Bonobo, Four Tet, Moodymann, MCDE, DJ Harvey, Greg Wilson, and the heads-down, eyes-up energy of records built to travel.
Creativity & Community
Nutritious occupies a rare position in contemporary electronic music—one where artistry, community-building, and cultural curiosity carry equal weight. His world isn't limited to the dance floor; it extends into wellness, interdisciplinary art, and the deeper connective threads that shape how people experience sound.
A creative visionary and cultural alchemist, he has spent his career blending innovation across fields: serving as A&R at Liquid Culture, helping build DoubleBlind Magazine's pioneering presence in psychedelic and cultural journalism, and contributing to conversations at the intersection of mental health, transformation, and creative culture. His work has been featured by institutions such as The Whitney Museum of American Art and Rodarte for New York Fashion Week, and he's collaborated with legendary designer John Van Hamersveld—renowned for his work with surf culture, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones, underscoring the breadth of his influence.
Nutritious is also a contributing author to the New York Times bestselling Living Well with Montel Williams, bringing his holistic lens to a wider audience. Whether collaborating with entrepreneurs, artists, or community leaders, Nutritious cultivates environments where imagination and well-being are prioritized. His ethos is simple but resonant: creativity as a catalyst for connection—and connection as the foundation for meaningful change.
"These songs live where lift meets weight,” Nutritious says. “Ether breathes, Cenote centers, and Humanity embraces the map we share. I built The Soft Dark for rooms where technology feels human again—music that stokes imagination and still drives a dance floor.”
